Dar es Salaam. Tanzanian agribusiness firm Kostiv Tanzania Group Ltd last week placed the country’s avocado potential on the global stage after showcasing premium Hass avocado production at Fruit Logistica Berlin 2026, the world’s leading fresh produce trade fair.
With avocado farms in Njombe and across the Southern Highlands, Kostiv used the international exhibition to demonstrate Tanzania’s growing capacity to produce export-grade Hass avocados and its readiness to compete in the global horticulture market.
Kostiv’s participation underscored the rising role of private investment in strengthening Tanzania’s horticultural exports, particularly in the avocado subsector, which has become an important source of income for farmers and a key contributor to export growth.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, Kostiv’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Petro Kostiv, held discussions with Njombe Regional Commissioner Mr Mtaka, focusing on expanding agricultural investment in the region. Njombe and the wider Southern Highlands remain among Tanzania’s leading avocado-producing areas, where the crop continues to play a critical role in livelihoods and foreign exchange earnings.
The exhibition also provided Kostiv with an opportunity to engage with industry institutions and international partners. During the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA), Dr Jacqueline Mkindi, met with exporters and stakeholders to discuss strategies for opening Tanzania further to global horticultural markets and strengthening collaboration between the private sector and industry bodies.
These discussions highlighted the upcoming Horti Logistica Africa, TAHA’s flagship horticulture trade show, which is scheduled to debut in November 2026 in Arusha and is expected to be held annually thereafter, offering a continental platform for growers, exporters and investors.
Kostiv’s presence at Fruit Logistica also attracted diplomatic attention. Tanzania’s Ambassador to Germany, His Excellency Hassani Iddi Mwamweta, visited the company’s stand, where Mr Petro Kostiv was introduced as one of the significant private investors in Tanzania’s avocado sector.
Stakeholders say Kostiv’s participation at Fruit Logistica Berlin reflects Tanzania’s accelerating momentum in horticultural exports, driven by certified production systems, expanding private investment and growing international visibility through major global trade platforms.
The showcase is seen as a strategic opportunity for Kostiv Tanzania Group Ltd to position itself as a leading player in the avocado value chain, while reinforcing Tanzania’s ambitions to strengthen its foothold in the global fresh produce market.
