Tanzanian MP accuses bodaboda drivers of raping, impregnating schoolgirls

Dodoma. A lawmaker has accused bodaboda drivers of raping and impregnating students, asking the government to take stern measures against them. 

Ms Fatma Taoufiq (Special Seats-CCM) also wanted to know the statistics of pregnancy cases involved the bodaboda drivers in the last three years. 

However, deputy minister for science and education Mr William Ole Nasha said the government was taking measures to protect female students from being raped and getting pregnant. 

He also said the government knows figures of rapes and pregnancies but the cases did not categorise the occupation of the men involved. 

"I also agree with the legislator's advice to provide civic education in schools on how to avoid rape and pregnancies," said Mr Nasha.
