The Kilimanjaro premium Lager Brand Manager, Pamela Kikuli, whose beer is the main sponsor of the marathon, said the band was selected due to its current popularity all over the country.
This year’s edition of the prestigious Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon is expected to be more exciting and a must attend as the popular YaMoto Band will be performing.
The Kilimanjaro premium Lager Brand Manager, Pamela Kikuli, whose beer is the main sponsor of the marathon, said the band was selected due to its current popularity all over the country.
“We are sure that the more than 10 ,000 expected attendees and participants will be treated to exciting entertainment as that is one of the best bands at the moment,” said the manager.
She said the aim was to stage a memorable performance that will give the participants the true meaning of entertainment as they enjoy their cold Kilimanjaro Premium Lager after the races. “This will be a true celebration for the winners and attendees as well,” he said.
YaMoto band was formed about five years ago and comprises of four artistes namely Aslay Isihaka popularly known as ‘Dogo Aslay’, Mbwana Yusuph Kilungi ‘Maromboso’, Enock Deogratius ‘Enock Bella’ and Bakari Abdul katuti ‘Beka’ who have now become popular due to the kind of music they do.
Some of their popular songs include Niseme, Mapenzi ya kitoto, Nisambazie raha, Nitajuta, Mama, Nitakupwelepeba and Cheza Kimadoido.
According to the manager, up and coming artistes from Kilimanjaro will also get chance perform on the same stage with YaMoto Band. “This will give chance to these upcoming artistes to show their potential as we believe there are so many talents in Moshi,” she said as she called on Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers for this marathon which is the biggest athletic event in Tanzania.
The marathon is expected to take place on Sunday February 28 and over 8000 participants are expected to turn up at the Moshi Cooperative University (MoCU).
Other sponsors of the marathon include Tigo, GAPCO, Grand Malt, KK Security, Kibo Palace, RwandAir, Kilimanjaro Water, CMC Automobiles, FNB, TPC Limited and Keys Hotel.
