According to Siraki, they are currently hunting for sponsors so as to make the competition more successful. She said the body needs Sh30 million to facilitate the event.

She said that they will use the event to select the national team golfers ahead of the East and Central All Africa Regional Challenge Trophy (ECA) scheduled to be held in Kigali, Rwanda in November.

Tanzania is among 11 countries whose golfers will compete in the event.

Other countries are Burundi, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, Uganda, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Reunion, DR Congo, and the host, Rwanda. Siraki said that currently, golfers are in preparations ahead of the 54-hole event.

For her part, TLGU treasurer, Joyce Ndyetabura said the winner of the gross event will join Neema Olomi and Madina Idd of Arusha Gymkhana Club in the national team.
