Ms Kombani said she was hurt when her opponent told voters not to vote for her because their culture and norms prohibit them from being led by women.

Despite wining the primary poll in Ulanga East, the Minister of State in the President’s Office (Public Service Management), Ms Celina Kombani, plans to sue other contestants who participated in the poll over abuse based on gender. She wants to sue Mr Agustino Matefu for allegedly using derogatory language during the campaigns, simply because she is a woman.
“I want this to be a lesson to other aspirants who have been using gender to demean their opponents,” she said.
