Dar es Salaam. National Sports Council (NSC) has issued an order to the Mainland champions Young Africans’ leadership to conduct general election by end of June this year.

The club leadership, under Chairman Yusuf Manji was supposed to leave office in June 2014 when their term officially expired, but the club’s elders committee and members extended the term to one year, a move seen as a violation of the club’s constitution.

Young Africans leadership requested TFF to allow them postpone the election to pave the way for the country’s general election that was held on October 25 last year.

The club has since responded by appointing Sam Mapande, the new electoral Chairman, tasked to prepare all election processes, the exercise that is yet to be done.

NSC Secretary General, Mohamed Kiganja said yesterday apart from Young Africans, the order is also for other premier league clubs and first division which are yet to conduct their general election as per their constitution.

Kiganja said apart from Young Africans, the order is also for Azam FC, Mtibwa Sugar, Ndanda FC, JKT Ruvu, Kagera Sugar, Mgambo JKT, Toto African, Mwadui FC, Stand United and Tanzania Prisons. He said records show only Simba SC, Coastal Union and African Sports have legible leadership.

He said TFF’s have to supervise the exercise and later on inform them about its progresses. He explained that by June 30, all clubs are required to have leadership as per rules and regulations set by them and approved by NSC through the registrar of clubs and sports associations.

“I know there are clubs owned by institutions likem, JKT Ruvu, Tanzania Prisons, and JKT Mgambo, if there are member-oriented, they have elect their leaders through their own ways and inform us,”

“Clubs like, Azam FC, Mtibwa Sugar, Mwadui and Kagera Sugar have also to do the same and inform us, if they have their own procedures, they are supposed to inform us. and TFF through their election committee have to supervise this,” said Kiganja.
