Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Mainland Premier league leading scorer Amissi Tambwe of Dar es Salaam Young Africans has said apart from targeting a golden boot award, he would be happy to see his club defending well the title.

The Burundian international is not at the top of the scoring chart with 10 goals, one ahead against Tanzanian Elias Maguri, who has so far scored nine goals.

Speaking yesterday, Tambwe admitted that he would not be happy to see him win the golden boot award while his club is losing the title to another team. He said what he is targeting is to see the club win all awards include the best team, the best coach, the best player of the league, the best goalkeeper as well as winning the trophy.

According to Tambwe, winning the mainland trophy is the top honour for the team and believes other awards will spice up the team’s performance in the country.

“My dream is to see my team winning all awards in the league. We at least made it in the last season whereby Simon Msuva scooped two awards: the golden boot award and the best player award. Our team won the best award too, we need to flex our muscles to increase the number of awards at the end of this season,” said Tambwe.

He said the secret behind of the team success is to play hard with all tactical and discipline. “My teammates and I are in high morale. We want to see the club shine. The league is very tough; we need to be very keen in all matches,” he said.

Apart of Tambwe to lead the standing, his club is also at the top with 33 points from 13 matches. However the team is facing tough opposition with Azam FC which is second with 32 points. The Ice cream makers are still having one match and if they will win, they will beat Young Africans with two point’s margin.

Azam FC will be in action tomorrow playing Mtibwa Sugar at the Azam Complex in Chamazi. The match is expected to be the toughest one due to the fact that Mtibwa Sugar wants to win in order to improve their status in the standing. Mtibwa Sugar is third with 27points.
