Manager blames airport construction delay on lack of funds

Dodoma. Delays in the construction of an international airport in Dodoma  have been blamed on the the poor economic performance of the country’s designated capital town. 

Since 1980 the government earmarked about 400,000 square kilometer at Msalato area at the municipal’s outskirt for the project with no avail as all investors jetted-in with intent to invest in the project are ending –up being diluted by the regions’ poor economy.

The regional airport manager, Mr Bernald Mushi, yesterday told The Citizen that, more than four giant investors have already landed here from Arab and Brazil in connection to the expensive project, whereby, after conducted their feasibility studies they vanished on a thin air.

“The project requires more than Sh150 billion  and the government has no such cash so the  project is only rely on foreign investors,” he revealed.

He added that, the poor economic pace has always stands as a huge barrier for the project as most investors are not keen to invest after learning of the region’s economic status.
