Professor Joyce Ndalichako said the government is working to ensure that colleges offering technical and vocational education and training are empowered as they can create workers right out of the box, ready to perform in any field of specialisation
Arusha. Technical and vocational institutes have been advised to increase student intakes because they are better placed to create employable graduates than other institutions of higher learning.
The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office [Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability] Professor Joyce Ndalichako said the government is working to ensure that colleges offering technical and vocational education and training are empowered as they can create workers right out of the box, ready to perform in any field of specialisation.
Professor Ndalichako was speaking during the opening of the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) symposium taking place at Mount Meru Hotel under the theme Strengthening TVET for Skilled Workforce in Tanzania.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of NACTVET, Dr Adolf Rutayuga, said they were working to ensure that all students come out of their training well prepared to undertake any tasks thrown at them.
The symposium, which attracted 250 participants, is taking place alongside a special exhibition being held at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium.
On the other hand, President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to officially grace the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Exhibition 2023 on Friday, May 19, 2023.
“We encourage all Tanzanians from the Northern Zone regions of Arusha, Manyara and Kilimanjaro to turn up in large numbers and experience for themselves, what our youths in the vocational training institutes are capable of achieving,” Dr Rutayuga stated during a press conference held at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium, along Col. Middleton Road, where the events are also taking place.
The National Council for Technical Education works to assist technical institutions to improve and maintain the quality of the education they provide and to ensure that their programmes meet labour market demand, by guiding and monitoring their adherence to the regulatory framework.
It also performs advisory functions in advising both Government and technical institutions on the strategic development of technical education and training that can be undertaken.
