NHIF nears completion of new office in Lindi to boost access to healthcare services

Lindi. To facilitate easier access to healthcare services, the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) in Lindi Region has commenced the construction of a new regional office, which is now 94 percent complete.
Speaking on Wednesday, 28 May 2025, NHIF Regional Manager Irine Katarahiya said the office is being constructed in Rasibura Ward, Lindi Municipality, at a total cost of Sh 401 million.
According to Katarahiya, the office aims to enhance the efficiency in the provision of medical services and quality medical equipment to improve the welfare of residents through 302 health centres across the Lindi Region.
“The completion of this office will cost Sh 401 million and will significantly boost the delivery of healthcare services and quality medical supplies to the benefit of our people,” said Katarahiya.

“The construction of this NHIF building will help fast-track access to healthcare services, as they will now be closer to the people,” said Ussi.
Janeth Methew, one of the NHIF members, said the new office will bring services closer to the community.
“This building will make it easier for citizens to access services quickly, and we will no longer have to struggle to find the NHIF office as it is conveniently located by the roadside,” said Methew.
The National Freedom Torch was carried through 128 kilometres in Lindi Municipality, where it inspected, observed, and visited six development projects worth a total of Sh 2 billion.
