No one has power to divide or sell Tanzania, says President Samia

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has said that no one has the power to disrupt peace and security, divide, or sell Tanzania.

The President said this during the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT), an event held in Arusha.

The President was asked to keep working and unite the country despite the criticism, including from those who are against the DP World port deal and claim that the country is being sold.

The head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, Dr. Shoo, said that the church supports investment in the country and the government's agreement with Dubai’s DP World.

In response, President Samia said she would remain silent as she had decided not to speak on the matter, despite the ongoing debate.

"I have decided to remain silent, and I will continue to remain silent," she said.

However, she added, "What I want to assure you is that there is no one who has the power and strength to divide this country, and no one has the power and strength to sell this nation or to destroy our peace and security."
