Morogoro. Deputy minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development Angelina Mabula has directed all councils in the country to use the Ardhi Institute in Morogoro for land survey at affordable costs.
Speaking to leaders of the institute during her tour of the facility recently, Ms Mabula said despite the institute’s lower charges, land survey had been giving students practical experience.
“I advise all councils in the country to use Ardhi Institute for land survey projects as it is cheaper than hiring private land surveyors. You will also help students gain experience,” she said. However, she advised the institute to use land survey equipment well and not overuse for land survey projects, thereby affecting practical teaching in class. “Don’t be drawn into money business, taking all equipment to land survey projects. Remember, the equipment is the one used for teaching in class,” said Ms Mabula.
For his part, Ardhi Institute principal for Morogoro Adamu Nyaruhuma said the facility worked with different councils in the country in land survey through a property and business formalisation programme (PBFP).
Mr Nyaruhuma noted that the institute was capable of surveying 100-300 plots using students in practical training and asked the government through the ministry to provide them with modern digital equipment for teaching as the current one was outdated.
