Public Service Summit to focus on tech, efficiency, and governance

Arusha. More than 700 human resource and public administration professionals from across Tanzania are set to converge in Arusha for a national summit aimed at aligning public service delivery with rapid technological transformation.
The experts will gather for the first Annual General Summit of the Tanzania Association for Public Administrators and Human Resources (TAPA-HR), to be held from July 22 to 25, 2025, at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC).
The summit is organised by the President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance under the theme: “Redefining the role of human resource and public administration professionals: Driving change and embracing technological transformation to enhance public service delivery.”
Speaking to journalists in Arusha on Friday, July 18, 2025, TAPA-HR chairperson, Ms Grace Meshy, highlighted the importance of the summit to be officiated by the Minister of State in the President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance, George Simbachawene.
“This summit marks a critical milestone for Tanzania’s public sector,” said Ms Meshy.
“As technology continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, the demand for HR and public administration professionals who are agile, tech-savvy, and innovation-driven has never been higher. This forum will provide a unique platform for learning, experience-sharing, and strengthening professional competencies across the board,” she added.
She noted that the summit also aims to address the evolving dynamics within the public service, particularly the integration of digital tools and systems to enhance service delivery, efficiency, and accountability.
“We intend to drive a shift in mindset and operational culture within public institutions, enabling professionals to better serve citizens and respond to modern governance demands,” she added.
Speaking at the same briefing, TAPA-HR Secretary, Ms Prisca Lwangili, outlined the summit’s broad agenda, which includes sessions on best practices in leadership and governance, the application of ICT in public administration, and strategies for strengthening institutional accountability.
“We strongly urge all employers across ministries, local government authorities, public agencies, universities, and other state institutions to facilitate the participation of their HR and administrative professionals,” said Ms Lwangili.
“This summit represents a strategic step towards advancing national human capital development and reinforcing good governance within the public sector,” she added.
