  • Gamondi’s statement serves as a warning to the Yanga squad for the upcoming season that will feature the high-profile players

Dar es Salaam. Young Africans (Yanga) head coach Miguel Gamondi has said despite his team being composed of big-name players, he will focus more on performance during training and matches.

Gamondi’s statement serves as a warning to the Yanga squad for the upcoming season that will feature the high-profile players of the team including Stephane Aziz Ki, Claouts Chama, Pacome Zouzoua, Prince Dube and Maxi Nzengeli.

Yanga’s other players to feature next season are Lhalid Aucho, Dickson Job, Kennedy Musonda, Mudathir Yahaya, Ibrahim Baca, Kouassi Attohoula, and many others.

Gamondi explained that he will perform his duties with great professionalism and has no fear at all when it comes to selecting the first team for any match.

According to Gamondi, he will select the squad based on the type of opponents they face and that it will also depend on the players' performance levels to be utilized in the respective matches.

"I don’t think there is any difficulty in selecting the starting team for a match. There is no difficulty, the team can be arranged, I don’t see any worry at all, it depends on the opponent you are facing," said Gamondi.

He explained that sometimes you might need to play with two defensive midfielders, other times with two strikers, or sometimes with two or three attacking midfielders.

"Sometimes you can give Aziz Ki (Stephanie) a chance to play, rest another player, or sometimes use them all. The league is long and there are many matches," said the Argentinian tactician.

 Aziz Ki’s registration

Gamondi also touched on Aziz Ki’s new registration, saying that he is pleased with his presence in the team and that his decision to stay with Yanga confirms that he has chosen to be in a place that gives and bring him peace and success.

The head coach asserted that his goal is to have all the key players in the team and start the season with a bang.

"I am happy with Aziz Ki's presence for the upcoming season and the type of players we agreed upon with the leaders. In recruitment, the goals have been achieved, and now the remaining task is to unite the team and bring efficiency in various competitions," Gamondi said.

Since joining Yanga in 2022, Aziz Ki has been instrumental in their successes, including winning three Premier League titles and a notable run to the CAF Confederation Cup final.

His prolific scoring mastery earned him the golden boot award last season with 21 goals in the NBC Premier League, solidifying his reputation as a top striker.

Aziz Ki's renewed commitment is seen as pivotal for Yanga's aspirations in domestic and international competitions, especially in the CAF Champions League. His leadership and experience are expected to play a crucial role once again as Yanga will be seeking further glory.
