Dar es Salaam. Singida Fountain Gate FC today faces Egypt’s Future FC in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup’s second preliminary round at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.

The encounter has been scheduled to kick off at 4pm and it’s very crucial for Singida Fountain Gate FC in order to qualify for the group stage.

Singida Fountain Gate FC head coach Ernst Middendorp said all players are fit for the encounter and target the best results.

Middlendorp, who replaced Hans van der Pluijm, who resigned, said they are taking the encounter seriously despite the fact that they are playing one of the toughest teams in the competition. He said his players are aware of their commitment to the match and have promised to fight hard.

“This is the most crucial match of ours in the competition. We need to stretch our muscles in order to win and create a good environment ahead of the group stage. The players are determined and focused on the match,” said Middlendrop.

He said Future are a strong team that cannot be undermined. “We really face a tough test, and in any way of achieving success, you need to meet strong opponents. So, we are expecting a strong opposition, but we need to do our best,” he said.

Middlendrop urged his players to be very keen all the time and convert all the clear scoring chances they create into goals.

“I call on my players to be focused and play with determination. Future FC is the best team with experience in the competition. We have very experienced players who have the determination to qualify for the group stage. I am sure they will not let us down,” he said.

Singida Fountain Gate FC eliminated JKU of Zanzibar on 4-3 aggregate goals to reach the stage for the first time in their history.

They won 4-1 away and were later beaten 2-0 in the return leg. Future FC did not feature in the first preliminary round due to their rankings.
