Yanga face uphill task against Tanzania Prisons as NBC Premier League rolls on at three venues

Dar es Salaam. After a 2-1 win over Mashujaa FC, football giants Young Africans (Yanga) face another challenging task Sunday on February 11, 2024 against Tanzania Prisons at the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya as the Tanzania Mainland NBC Premier League rolls on at three separate venues.

Aside from the Yanga-Tanzania Prisons match, Tabora United FC will host Namungo FC at the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora at 4 pm.

Later at 7 pm, Dodoma Jiji FC will meet Mashujaa FC at the Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.

Yanga secured a 1-0 victory over Dodoma Jiji FC before winning 2-1 over Mashujaa FC at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania Prisons will likely strive to halt Yanga's winning streak to improve their position in the league standings.

The defending champions have collected 37 points from 13 matches so far, while Tanzania Prisons are ninth with 17 points from 14 games.

Yanga head coach Miguel Gamondi said their objective is to win the away match and maintain the top position in the league standings. He added that they are determined not to disappoint their fans again.

“We have rectified all the mistakes that led to our setback against Mashujaa FC, and most of my players have recovered. We experienced fatigue due to a congested fixture, but my players have rested well and are committed to doing their best in the match,” said Gamondi.


Tanzania Prisons head coach Hamad Ally expressed confidence in his players' ability to secure victory in the match.

“We understand the challenge ahead, but we are approaching the match with utmost seriousness to bag all the three points,” said Hamadi.

Another tough game scheduled for today is between Tabora United against Namungo FC at the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium, where it will kick off at 2 pm. The match is expected to be thrilling as both teams aim for a positive result.

Tabora United currently sit 12th with 15 points from 14 matches, while Namungo FC are eighth with 17 points from 14 matches.

Tabora United FC coach Goran Kopunoviv affirmed that all his players are in good shape and ready to achieve a favorable result in the encounter.

Namungo FC head coach Mwinyi Zahera stated that their intention is to secure victory in the encounter.
