“As we have always maintained, turning around Tanzania’s football fortunes is a key vision for TFF,” he noted.
The new development comes at a time when Premier League teams are shaping up ahead of this season’s top flight, which kicks off on August 22.
Karia also revealed that they have been holding meetings with officials of Vodacom Tanzania – the elite league’s main sponsors – on a new contract.
He expressed optimism that they will have a sponsor as soon as possible. But he fell short of giving more details on the matter.
The contract between the country’s football governing body and Vodacom expired recently.
“I encourage teams to concentrate on preparations for the new season. I know some clubs ae facing some difficulties, but a solution is coming,” said Karia.
He assured clubs that the federation is working towards securing a deal with main sponsors of the league. He fell short of giving more details on the matter.
For his part, KCB Bank managing director, Cosmas Kimario said the bank feels proud to be associated with football development in the country.
“We are committed to supporting local sports. We will help get Tanzania where it should be; among the best football playing nations in Africa,” he added.
Speaking at the same occasion, Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) chief executive officer, Boniface Wambura, advised clubs not to solely rely on grants but seek alternative funding.
“I would like to advise clubs to cast their nets wider and get alternative sources of money” he said.
