What you need to know:

Kamusoko trained alongside some of his new Yanga team-mates for the first time yesterday, hours after completing his switch from FC Platinum.

Dar es Salaam. Young Africans midfielder Thabani Kamusoko has outlined why he will do everything he can to help the Mainland champions perform impressively in next season’s Premier League and CAF Champions League.

Kamusoko, who trained alongside some of his new Yanga team-mates for the first time yesterday, hours after completing his ‘lucrative’ switch from FC Platinum of Zimbabwe, said he is not afraid of challenges.

“I believe Yanga fans expect a lot from me, and to be honest I expect a lot from myself. The same applies for the people who worked hard to bring me here,” he said.

Yanga announced the signing of the Zimbabwean late on Thursday after putting pen to paper on a reportedly two-year deal, and he was straight down to business yesterday as the start of the new Premier League season draws nearer.

Kamusoko was put through his paces at the club’s Kaunda Stadium training ground with the other members of the squad.

He said that talking with coach Hans Van Pluijm convinced him Yanga was the club where he could meet his footballing ambitions.

“I’m really excited about joining Yanga because it is a team every good player would like to join in order to develop his career,” the Zimbabwean said.

He added: “When Hans Van Pluijm and Yanga leadership spoke to me about their ambitions for this club, and how they saw me as part of this team, the decision was clear.”

“Yanga fans want to see their team snatch the CAF Champions League title. I would like to be part of the generation that brings this trophy to the club.

“With the Mainland Premier League and the CAF Champions League, we’ll be going for it on both fronts. There are a lot of reasons for optimism. This club is very ambitious.”

His arrival at Yanga brings to two the number of Zimbabweans at the Dar es Salaam outfit.

A few months ago, Yanga who have vowed to make their presence felt in the Champions League, roped in forward Donald Ngoma from Zimbabwe’s FC Platinum.

For his part, Yanga secretary general Jonas Tiboroha said Kamusoko has passed medical and will feature for the team this season.

Tiboroha said the club’s technical bench is satisfied with the player’s standard and hopefully he will sign for the team.

“Kamusoko is one of the best players we have signed for the new season. I am optimistic that he’ll propel our team to higher heights of success,” he said.
