Dar es Salaam. Preparations for the highly anticipated NBC Dodoma Marathon are reaching a fever pitch, with organizers unveiling race kits and reaffirming partnerships with key sponsors ahead of the July 27 event.
With just days remaining, excitement is building around what is poised to be one of Tanzania’s most impactful marathons—uniting corporate partners, athletes, and communities under a shared mission of health, wellness, and social responsibility.
Over the last weekend in Dar es Salaam, NBC’s Chief Financial Officer Rayson Foya led a delegation of senior bank officials to distribute official marathon kits to top sponsors and partners.
Accompanying him were Godwin Semunyu, NBC’s Head of Communications and Public Relations, and Tatiana Masimba, Chairperson of the NBC Dodoma Marathon Organizing Committee.
Their visits underscored the bank’s commitment to recognizing its partners and enhancing collaboration ahead of the race.
Foya and his team made stops at the offices of Sanlam Insurance, GSM Group, Jubilee Allianz Tanzania, and Vodacom Tanzania.
At each location, they were warmly received by senior executives who expressed not only gratitude for the kits, but also renewed enthusiasm for the marathon’s core objectives—community support, public health awareness, and nationwide impact.
At Sanlam Insurance, the NBC team presented the kits to Managing Director Julius Magabe and his leadership team.
The engagement continued at GSM Group headquarters, where the team met with Managing Director Gharib Said Mohamed and GSM Investment Director Hersi Said. GSM, through its subsidiaries, will be providing water and beverages for the marathon, while its philanthropic arm, GSM Foundation, will actively support the event’s social programs.
In his remarks, Hersi praised NBC’s coordination and vision, stating, “GSM Group is proud to be part of this noble initiative. We believe that by pooling our strengths and resources, we can address the pressing issues facing our communities and bring about sustainable change.”
The NBC delegation also visited Jubilee Allianz Tanzania and met with Managing Director Jaideep Goel before heading to Vodacom Tanzania.
There, they engaged with senior representatives including Business Director Nguvu Kamando, who highlighted Vodacom’s continued support for the marathon. Kamando noted, “Vodacom Tanzania is delighted to support the NBC Dodoma Marathon for a second consecutive year. We commend NBC for turning this sporting event into a platform for positive change, and we remain committed to contributing to its growing success.”
According to NBC, this year’s marathon aims to raise funds and awareness for key health-related causes. These include supporting the fight against cervical cancer, recruiting and training 200 midwives, and launching a pioneering initiative to train 100 nurses in autism care across the country. Foya emphasized that the NBC Dodoma Marathon is more than just a race—it is a movement designed to uplift communities and address critical health challenges. Sponsors also commended the quality and creative design of the race kits, a testament to NBC’s meticulous organization and branding efforts.
The event is expected to attract thousands of participants from within Tanzania and beyond, creating not only a platform for fitness but also a rallying point for corporate social responsibility.
Registration for the marathon is ongoing at www.events.nbc.co.tz, with fees set at Sh45, 000 for individual runners and Sh42, 000 per person for groups of 30 or more.
With the unveiling of the race kits and stakeholder support stronger than ever, all signs point to a successful and impactful marathon in Dodoma on July 27. The energy is high, the message is clear, and the countdown has officially begun.
