Dar es Salaam. Young Africans have yet another opportunity to move closer to the crown and derail log leaders Azam when they come face to face with Ndanda FC today at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Young Africans are second with 33 points while log leaders Azam were at an uncomfortable top with 35 points before their encounter with African Sports at the Azam Complex yesterday.
On the eve of the match, Yanga head coach Hans Van Pluijm decried missed opportunities in previous games but said their mission was to redeem themselves, and never to lose sight of the title, so near yet so far if his troops keep shooting blank bullets.
“We normally miss many goals in our matches, we create many chances in many matches, but we end up with low scoring margins. But we have rectified all that and hopefully today, we will score as many goals as we can,” said Pluijm.
Pluijm said he had worked on sharpening his side’s striking force in a bid to utilise all the clear chances they have been habitually wasting in previous encounters.
“It is going to be a tough match because Ndanda FC is a strong side, and they play as a team. But we are at home, so we will do everything possible to get the points and climb the league table,” he said.
The Jangwani Street side will bank on the likes of Donald Ngoma, Saimon Msuva, Amisi Tambwe, Malimi Busungu, Paul Nonga, Thabani Kamusoko and Deus Kaseke for goals.
Not to be outdone, Ndanda FC head coach, Hamimu Mawazo said they had prepared well for the game against the ailing giants.
“Yanga are a top club, but we are unfazed by the threat they pose to us. We are ready to fight for the three points,” said Mawazo.
In the last season, the two teams shared spoils at the National Stadium before Ndanda won in the second leg.
