Court suspends Yanga general poll

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Election Committee has suspended Young Africans general election which was scheduled to take place tomorrow at Oysterbay’s Police Officers’ Mess.

Young Africans were ordered to fill the gape of their Chairman, Yusuff Manji ,and and Vice Chairman Clement Sanga following the decision taken by the top leaders to resign. Other members who opted to resign for their executive committee posts were Salum Mkemi, Ayoub Nyenzi, Hashim Abdallah and Omar Said Amir.

Business tycoon Yusuff Manji wrote a resignation letter for his post, but the club’s general meeting did not agree with the decision and reinstated the leader. However, the National Sports Council (NSC) ordered the club to fill Manji’s post following the leader’s decision to remain calm to do the club matters despite the efforts made by the government to get his status. Later, NSC declared Manji’s post vacant, a decision that make Young Africans members oppose to fill Manji’s post.

TFF’s Election Committe chairman, Ally Mchungahela, said the club members in Mbeya, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma and Morogoro filed a case to suspend the election. Mchungahela said they are honoring the Court Order submitted to their office and decided to suspend the election process. He explained that they were in the final meeting to discuss the election preparations and unfortunately, they recieved the report and after verifying its truth, they decided to take the decision.

“We had no option on the matter, but decided to stop all election activities till further notice,” said Mchungahela.
