Magufuli appoints new PCCB boss

Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli has today, Thursday 6, September appointed Commissioner of Police (CP) Diwani Athumani as the new Director General of the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB).

Before the appointment, Mr Athumani was the Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) for Kagera Region.

According to a press released by the State House director of Presidential communications Mr Gerson Msigwa, Mr Athumani, the former Director of Criminal Investigations, is taking over from Mr Valentino Mlowola, who has been appointed an Ambassador.

"The appointment is with effect from today September 6, 2018," read the statement in part.

Mr Athumani had served the police force at different capacities including the Region Police Commander (RPC) in different regions.
