This is according to a statement issued by the department of policy and licensing in the directorate of banking supervision.
"The first housing company with its head office located in Dar es Salaam," read the statement.
In addition to mortgage finance firms it is also mandated to license and supervise banks, financial institutions, credit reference bureaus and lease companies.
