Huawei commits to modernising public services in Tanzania

Dar es Salaam. Huawei has reaffirmed its readiness to support the Tanzanian government’s digital transformation agenda, pledging greater collaboration in modernising public institutions and enhancing digital public services.
Speaking during the Huawei-Redington Partner Connect Event held in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, June 19, 2025, Huawei Eastern Africa Multi-Country Enterprise Department Director, Mr Ross Chen, underscored the company’s long-term commitment to Tanzania.
Chen highlighted ongoing support for government-led initiatives to strengthen public sector efficiency through digital innovation.
“Huawei stands ready to support the modernization of government institutions under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, especially in enhancing digital public services,” said Chen during the event, adding:
“We are also actively engaging with the financial sector to provide highly secure, scalable, and energy-efficient data storage and solutions — critical to the digital transformation of Tanzania’s banking ecosystem.”
The event, organised in partnership with ICT distributor Redington, brought together more than 80 stakeholders from the country’s ICT ecosystem.
It served as a platform for knowledge exchange, technology showcase, and alignment with national digital development goals.
Mr Chen said the company had been a trusted technology partner in major ICT projects across Tanzania, including in the government, transport, and education sectors.
Huawei also introduced a suite of cutting-edge innovations designed to support Tanzania’s digital economy.
These include Wi-Fi 7 for high-performance connectivity in government and corporate offices, as well as the eKit solution, which provides small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with scalable networking, storage, and cloud tools tailored for ease of use and rapid deployment.
Huawei’s Industry Solutions Manager, Mr Gerald Oola, said the company was also committed to environmental sustainability, highlighting its low-carbon, all-optical hotel solution that reduces energy consumption while enhancing guest internet experiences.
Huawei’s partner development approach was also in focus, with the company’s Senior Enterprise Partner Manager, Ms Rachel Huang, presenting Huawei’s partner policy, reaffirming the firm’s commitment to building local capacity and offering value-based support for Tanzanian ICT partners.
Redington, Huawei’s regional partner, announced a $1 million investment in demo equipment across East Africa — including Tanzania — to help local businesses and system integrators experience next-generation enterprise technologies first-hand.
“This initiative is about empowering Tanzanian businesses with the tools and confidence to adopt modern technologies without the burden of high upfront costs,” said Go To Market (GTM) and Technology Service Group (TSG) Senior Manager at Redington, Mr Rahul Bhati.
During the event an award was issued recognising outstanding partner achievements, along with technical sessions to strengthen the country’s ICT infrastructure and innovation landscape.
