Visa Platinum US dollar debit card for bank clients launched

Dar es Salaam. Barclays Bank Tanzania yesterday launched its Visa Platinum US dollar debit cards that will help the bank’s clients – who hold US dollar accounts – to access their money globally. Speaking at the launch in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the bank’s retail director, Mr Kumaran Pather, said the Visa Platinum US Dollar Debit Card is also equipped with a Chip and Pin technology which make the card secure and safe. When used locally to transact goods either online, through point of sale or even withdrawals through ATMs, the card will operate in local currency. All transactions done in US dollars will carry the dollar denomination.

“This allows for easy payments of purchases in Supermarkets, Hotels, Clothes shops and at fuel stations among others in Tanzania and globally,” he said. Clients can also transact online with peace of mind while at the same time, giving them (clients) the opportunity to receive discounts online when booking for vacations using your Barclays debit card.
