Dar es Salaam. Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel has launched a mobile application in a move aimed at embracing digital transformation and enhancing customer convenience.

The app dubbed Prestige Club is part of a global rollout of the loyalty programme, the company said.

Previously, Prestige Club members were required to carry physical cards, but with the new system, members can now access their accounts through a mobile app, enabling them to enjoy benefits across Serena Hotels globally.

Speaking during the launching event held at the hotel, on Wednesday, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing, Mr Seraphin Lusala, said the innovation is designed to improve user experience and increase local and international customer engagement with the hotel facilities.

“This launch focuses more on improving service efficiency and reducing operational costs, rather than profitability. We want to simplify how customers access and enjoy our services,” Mr Lusala said.

He noted that the virtual card, accessible via mobile phone, can be used across all Serena Hotels globally.

“Guests can now use the virtual card to purchase meals, access the spa, and benefit from other hotel facilities with eligible discounts,” he added.

The launch took place simultaneously across multiple regions, including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and parts of Asia.

On his part, the hotel’s guest relations manager, Mr Desdery Dotto, explained that the Prestige Club is a customer recognition programme aimed at rewarding loyalty. “When our clients use our services, they accumulate points which can be redeemed for various benefits including meals, rooms, laundry services,” he said.

The programme offers three membership tiers: Classic, Gold, and Platinum.

“Previously, the app was only available in Asia, but with this global launch, we are introducing the app to all regions,” Mr Dotto noted.

The mobile app is now available for download, marking a significant milestone in Serena Hotel’s commitment to digital customer service.
