Barbie, The Colour Purple score SAG Awards nominations

This year's Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards nominations have been announced, with 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' tying for the lead in the film category, while 'Succession' takes the spotlight in television, securing five nominations for its final season.

Announced on Wednesday morning, the film category is dominated by 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer,' each securing four nominations, including nods for their respective ensembles.  The competition for the top prize will be fierce, with both movies contending against 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' 'American Fiction,' and 'The Colour Purple.'

On the television front, 'Succession' leads with five nominations for its final season, closely followed by 'Ted Lasso,' 'The Bear,' and 'The Last of Us,' each earning four nominations.

'Succession,' a gripping portrayal of an ageing media mogul and his children, is in the running for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series, facing tough competition from 'The Crown,' 'The Gilded Age,' 'The Last of Us,' and 'The Morning Show.'
