Bongo flava giants poised to dominate 2025 with highly anticipated album releases

What you need to know:

  • Several artistes have already blessed the year with albums topping playlists, while others prepare to drop eagerly awaited projects that could redefine their careers.

Dar es Salaam. As 2025 reaches its halfway mark, the Bongo music industry shows no sign of slowing down.

Hits are flooding airwaves, music videos are setting new standards, and fans are enjoying some of the most creative lyrical storytelling yet.

Several artistes have already blessed the year with albums topping playlists, while others prepare to drop eagerly awaited projects that could redefine their careers.

In February, hip-hop heavyweight Darassa released his deeply personal album Take Away the Pain.

In May, Jay Melody followed with Addiction, while Mbosso delivered his soulful EP Room Number 3.

But the excitement does not end there; several top stars are gearing up to release new albums before the year closes.

Harmonize

Konde Gang CEO Rajab Abdul Kahali alias Harmonize has teased fans for months with snippets and behind-the-scenes previews of his upcoming sixth studio album, 31.

The Furaha hitmaker has yet to confirm a release date but has revealed some collaborations featured on the album.

These include Lala with Abigail Chams, a fresh track with Nigerian superstar Yemi Alade, and Best Couple featuring Rudeboy, already making waves as a single.

This year alone, Harmonize has released singles such as Coming Home, Best Couple, Furaha, and Yeye, setting the stage for what could be his most diverse album to date.

Marioo

When it comes to dominating 2025, Marioo is already a frontrunner.

The self-proclaimed king of Bongo Amapiano has consistently delivered back-to-back hits and collaborations, now preparing to extend his reign with a deluxe edition of his 2024 album The Godson.

The Godson Deluxe will feature five tracks, three of which, Tete, Ha Ha Ha, and Mvua (released on July 20, 2025), are already out.

The remaining two tracks will include international collaborations, adding more firepower to the project.

This deluxe edition follows the success of The Godson (released November 29, 2024), which featured 17 songs, including fan favourites such as Alhamdulillah, My Daughter, Sober, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, and Happiness.

This is not Marioo’s first deluxe edition; fans will recall that in May 2023, he added four extra tracks to his 2022 album The Kid You Know.

Nandy

It has been nearly seven years since Nandy released her debut album, The African Princess, in 2018, which featured timeless hits like Hazipo, Kivuruge, and Ninogeshe.

In 2021, she released a four-track EP titled Taste, but fans have long awaited a full-length follow-up.

The wait is finally over. Taking to Instagram, the Dah hitmaker confirmed her new album will drop in November 2025.

“The album will be out in November for very specific reasons! We’re finalising collaborations and making sure everything is perfect. We want to release it at the right time, when fans can truly enjoy it,” she shared in her Instagram stories.

With her track record for delivering heartfelt Bongo Flava ballads, expectations are high.

Billnass

For Billnass, 2025 promises to be a landmark year, as he exclusively confirmed to The Citizen that work on his first-ever studio album is currently underway.

“We’re working on an album. It will be my first since I started music. We’ve waited this long because we wanted it to be intentionally true to who I am, and where Tanzanian hip hop is going,” he said.

Billnass says the project will mark a new era, blending his lyrical roots with fresh sonic experimentation.

“It’s been a long time coming. We’ve evolved, the sound has matured, and now the timing feels right,” he added.

Diamond Platnumz

Diamond Platnumz has promised that 2025 will not end without delivering what he calls his most ambitious album yet.

Fans will recall he initially vowed to release the much-awaited project shortly after Ramadan, but it did not materialise as planned.

Now, excitement is building again after the Bongo Flava superstar revealed in a recent Billboard interview that the album will officially drop this September.

This announcement adds to a growing list of anticipated 2025 releases, with African and international artistes lining up new projects expected to redefine the music landscape this year.

International collaborations are also expected, as Diamond has teased working with American artistes during recent tours.

With Harmonize, Marioo, Nandy, Billnass, and Diamond Platnumz all preparing album releases, 2025 could be a defining year for Bongo Flava.
