Nafasi Art Space's Wikiendi Live festival returned to Dar es Salaam in grand fashion this past weekend, marking the hub's 15th anniversary and showcasing the immense creativity that thrives within the country.

From live performances to exhibitions, open studios, and a dazzling array of arts and crafts, Wikiendi Live was a celebration of Tanzanian art, culture, and creativity at its best.

The festival featured artists from around Tanzania and Zanzibar, as well as visiting regional and international artists who brought opportunities for inspiration and exchange.

Highlights included performances by the Garden Melodies, Muzi Ngoma art group, Tanzania entertainment Troupe and Wamwiduka, Nyago, Bagamoyo Band, and New Visions from America.

Wamwiduka Music Group praised Nafasi Art Space for giving them their start in the music industry, calling the hub their "parent."

"Nafasi gives us the platform; they opened the doors for us by giving us a chance; they are the ones who have given us a step forward, and they have announced us in the music industry," the group said.

A drummer from the Garden Melodies music group also praised Wikiendi Live for benefiting artists by helping them gain exposure, new fans, and new sponsors and businessmen.

"We perform on this platform; the stage helps us grow and be seen globally," the drummer said. "What I would ask for is more investors, so that they can see the talents that will be able to change the lives of many young people."

Wikiendi Live is a unique and vibrant live multidisciplinary event dedicated to showcasing traditional African beats and fusion.

The festival also seeks to develop audiences who are adventurous in their tastes and interested in expanding their musical horizons by being exposed to live music that excites, inspires, and revives enthusiasm for East Africa's rich musical heritage.

As the sun set on the festival's opening night, it left behind a lasting impression of the power of art to unite and inspire individuals from Tanzania, Zanzibar, and around the world.
