Arusha hosts 'Pan-African' moot court

Dar es Salaam. Arusha hosts a Pan African moot court competition involving students from twelve universities across the continent.

The main agenda of the competition is to educate future leaders in Africa’s human rights system and African governance architecture.

According to a statement from the African court on human and people’s rights (AfCHPR), the competition also aims to create links and support networks between African higher learning institutions interested in African Union studies.

“The competition jointly organized by AfCHPR in collaboration with other stakeholders will improve understanding and appreciation of the working of the African Union,” reads the statement by the head of information department of the African court on human and people’s right, Suk Chat

The finalists, two students from each university, assisted by a team coach are from  L’ Universite Catholique d’Afrique Centrale (Cameroon); Makerere University  (Uganda), Moi University (Kenya); University of Pretoria(South Africa), University of Zambia (Zambia); Centre d’etude et de recherché(Burkina Faso)and University of Ibandan (Nigeria).

Others are from University of Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe); University of Nigeria, Nsukka (Nigeria); St Augustine University (Tanzania); Law Development Center (Uganda) and Haramaya University (Ethiopia).
