Mbeya. The recent announcement by the Regional Commissioner of Mbeya, Mr Juma Homera, offering a trip to Dubai for ten deserving teachers has ignited a wave of enthusiasm among educators in the region.

Mr Homera made this declaration during an educational assessment meeting held on Tuesday, July 16, applauding the outstanding results of Form Six examinations recently released.

Homera attributed the incentive to the exceptional academic performance witnessed in the region this year, highlighting Dubai as a fitting reward for relaxation.

He specified that the opportunity would be extended to teachers from government schools, with considerations for private school teachers to be deliberated by a committee.

Addressing the educational landscape in Mbeya, Homera commended the region's progress, ranking just behind one other undisclosed region. He encouraged teachers to aim for the top spot, assuring them that achieving such recognition is within reach.

"Our results this year speak volumes about our educational strides. We've seen 4,047 students achieve Division One, 2,726 in Division Two, 487 in Division Three, and fewer in Divisions Four and Zero. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all teachers for their dedicated efforts," Homera stated.

He emphasized administrative directives aimed at supporting educators, including streamlined access to services without unnecessary queues, granting of leave as per need, and facilitating continuous professional development in line with national educational guidelines.

Underlining the government's commitment to educational infrastructure, Homera noted the allocation of 17 billion Tanzanian Shillings for school facilities. He urged officials to expedite ongoing construction projects, particularly classroom developments, to ensure timely completion.

"In addition to academic excellence, I stress the importance of providing meals in schools. Parental contributions towards this service are pivotal for fostering sustained academic achievements. Let's endeavor to leave a lasting impact in our communities in support of President Samia Suluhu Hassan's initiatives," he urged.

Encouraged by Homera's announcement, teachers from primary and secondary schools across Mbeya expressed eagerness to vie for the coveted Dubai trip, viewing it as both a personal and professional milestone.

A teacher at Ikuti Primary School, Mr Baraka Mwangunda, affirmed that the incentive would rejuvenate their commitment to delivering quality education. "A trip to Dubai is a dream for many. Personally, I plan to intensify my teaching efforts to ensure my subject area excels. We eagerly await the committee's decision," Mwangunda remarked.

Reflecting on the broader impact, Irene Bukuku from Igale Primary School pledged to enhance her teaching methods, leveraging this year's academic successes and the motivational boost from the Dubai incentive.

A teacher at Lubaga Secondary School in Kyela district Shadrack Mwaibambe, emphasized the importance of equitable provisions such as school meals for both students and teachers, underscoring their essential role in educational effectiveness.

Community leaders and education stakeholders, including Mbeya City Mayor Dourmohamed Issa and Francis Mwakihaba of the Association of Secondary School Headteachers (TAOSA), echoed Homera's sentiments on collaborative efforts and sustained educational excellence.
