Former Chadema MP passes away

She died on Sunday at Doctors Community Hospital in Maryland, America, where she was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness.

Dar es Salaam. Former Special Seats MP for the main opposition (Chadema) Leticia Nyerere has passed away.

She died on Sunday at Doctors Community Hospital in Maryland, America, where she was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness.

Ms Leticia had served as a Special Seats MP for five years since 2010 before she defected to the ruling party CCM in July 2015.

During her return to Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM), she told reporters that she had decided to go back ‘home’ (rejoining CCM) and her move resulted from what she termed as ‘misconduct within Chadema which she did not elaborate.

The deceaced MP was married to the late Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere’s son - Madaraka Nyerere - in 1996 and blessed with three children before they separated.

Yesterday, President Jonh Magufuli Mwalimu Nyerere’s widow at his Msasani home to console her for the death of her in-law.

President Magufuli asked all family members to be patient at this this difficult time for losing their loved one.
