Govt pledges new firefighting vehicle for airport

The deputy minister for Works, Transport and Communication said according to civil aviation regulations, airports are not allowed to operate without a fully functioning firefighting rescue automobile.

Musoma. Government has assured Musoma airport of a new firefighting and rescue vehicle.

The deputy minister for Works, Transport and Communication Edwin Ngonyani made the pledge while touring the airport on Tuesday.

Mr Ngonyani was informed by the airport’s management that there was only an old and defective vehicle.

The deputy minister said according to civil aviation regulations, airports are not allowed to operate without a fully functioning firefighting rescue automobile.

“Notwithstanding the limited budget in my ministry, we will allocate funds for purchasing a firefighter vehicle,” he said.  

The deputy minister directed the airport management to look for a temporary solution by hiring a private water engine as the government starts the procedure to purchase a new one.
