Hello Jua switches to last Sunday of the month as Wavuvi Kempu’s sunrise party grows into a regional sensation

Dar es Salaam . Tanzania’s iconic monthly entertainment experience, Hello Jua (Sunrise), is set to adopt a new schedule, shifting from its long-standing tradition of being held on the last Saturday of every month to the last Sunday of the month, starting May 31, 2026.

Hosted at the ever-buzzing Wavuvi Kempu, Hello Jua has cemented itself as one of Dar es Salaam’s most anticipated end-of-month hangouts, blending beachside vibes, music, fashion, culture and fierce competition into a sunrise celebration that has become a lifestyle statement for party lovers.

Launched in 2022, the event has grown into a signature brand under Wavuvi Kempu, delivering themed editions that transform the venue into a colourful playground of culture and creativity.

Revellers are not only expected to show up ready to dance, but also to arrive dressed to impress, as each edition comes with a theme that dictates the night’s fashion mood.

Over the years, Hello Jua has hosted global-inspired editions such as Jamaican, Brazilian, Indian and South African themes, alongside local favourites including Swahili and Maasai editions, giving the event a uniquely Tanzanian identity with a cosmopolitan edge.

Speaking on the event’s evolution, Wavuvi Kempu founder Carlos Bastos Mella, popularly known as Kalito, said Hello Jua was built from the ground up as an original Tanzanian concept and has maintained its popularity due to consistency and innovation.

He noted that Hello Jua is more than an ordinary party night, describing it as an experience where entertainment meets fashion theatre, as guests compete in themed outfits with winners taking home cash prizes.

With its electric atmosphere, cultural immersion and sunrise energy, Hello Jua remains one of Dar es Salaam’s standout party experiences — now stepping into a fresh monthly rhythm with its shift to the last Sunday of every month.
