The Kibiti District Authorities have called upon ward and village executives, who fled their working stations because of murder incidents involving local government leaders, police officers and CCM leaders, to quickly return to their stations of duty so as to keep serving residents.

The call was made on Sunday by the Kibiti District Commissioner Gullamuhusein Kifu during a meeting of a civic council that took place at his office.

He put it that for now the district’s defence and security had been stepped up, thereby calling upon the executives to return to their stations of duty so that they could serve the residents.

"For now the security situation in our district has been stepped up. So, ward and village executives, who fled their working stations are supposed to return and serve residents," he said.

Due to that situation, the DC said the residents were now supposed to keep cooperating with defence and security organs so that all those who took part in the killing incidents in Kibiti and Mkuranga districts could be arrested.

Contributing, councilors lauded that government as well as the defence and security organs for restoring peace and security in the district.

Due to the stepping up of defence and security, Kibiti Councilor Hamidu Ungando advised the Kibiti District Council to reintroduce a forestry product levy collection check-point at Jaribu Village so that the council could resume levy collections.
