Kitaa Food Fest celebrates Tanzanian cuisine and sustainable cooking

Dar es Salaam. Coca-Cola Tanzania's Kitaa Food Fest concluded on November 23 in a grand celebration of Tanzanian culinary heritage, innovation, and sustainability. The event, held at the 710 grounds in Kawe, Dar es Salaam, brought together over 40 local chefs, popularly known as Mama na Baba Lishe, who showcased their exceptional skills in preparing traditional Tanzanian dishes while embracing environmentally friendly cooking methods.
Senior Marketing Manager at Coca-Cola Tanzania, Kabula Nshimo, highlighted the unique blend of culinary creativity and sustainability that defined the festival. "The ingenuity of Tanzanian chefs, combined with the commitment to clean cooking energy, has made this event truly special. It’s a pride to celebrate our heritage while promoting sustainable practices," she said.
Adding a regional flair, the festival featured renowned Kenyan chef Dennis Ombachi, famously known as The Roaming Chef. Ombachi conducted a live cooking session demonstrating modern techniques and the importance of using safe and efficient cooking technologies. His participation added an educational aspect to the event, inspiring attendees to adopt innovative and environmentally friendly methods in their kitchens.
Apart from food, the event offered vibrant musical entertainment by local artists, emphasizing community togetherness. Coca-Cola Kwanza's Acting General Manager, Jonathan Jooste, reflected on the significance of the event. "This festival showcases how food, entertainment, and Coca-Cola beverages can bring people together while advocating for environmental stewardship," he stated.
The Kitaa Food Fest was attended by over 300 residents of Dar es Salaam, leaving a lasting impression on promoting Tanzanian culture and culinary innovation in a sustainable way. Traditional dishes like ugali samaki, wali, pilau, ndizi nyama, and kuku wa kuchoma were among the highlights, demonstrating the rich flavors and diversity of Tanzanian cuisine.
