The workshop brought together religious leaders as well as representatives from the community radios in the northern zone regions who fall under the umbrella of Comneta.
One of the traditional elders who identified himself as Lesira Samburi insisted that all groups should be involved in seeking solutions to bottlenecks hindering development in the pastoralist community.
A programme officer with Unesco Al Amini Yusuph said the community radios have contributed a lot for sensitizing the people, including the poor and marginalized groups, on development issues such as health, agriculture, water and in advocating for peace.
Speaking during a workshop which attracted 35 participants from the community radios from all the five partner states of the East African Community (EAC) in Arusha, the Head of Unesco Office in Tanzania, Ms. Zulmira Rodrigues pledged that the UN body would continue to support community media initiatives in the region.
