Dar es Salaam. Majaliwa Jackson, a 20-year-old young man whose heroics is credited with the rescue of 24 passengers who were aboard the ill-fated Precision Air plane on Sunday November 6, has on Friday November 11 paid a visit to the Parliament.

Dressed in a black suit, Majaliwa was welcomed in the House by the Speaker of Parliament, Dr Tulia Ackson, who thanked the local hero and fellow fishermen who engaged in the rescue mission.

After he was introduced, MPs clapped for the man who was at the Speaker’s gallery with fire and rescue officers.

Apart from that, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa awarded the 20-year-old Sh1 million during the public funeral held at Kaitaba Stadium in Kagera region.

Majaliwa has already enrolled at the Fire and Rescue Army Academy in Handeni, Tanga Region, ready for fire and rescue training.

Speaking to journalists outside the parliament, Majaliwa thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for the job she offered him in the fire and rescue brigade; “I would like to thank the President for offering me a permanent employment.’

He added: Also, I thank the fire and rescue brigade and the Commissioner for how they received me and I thank the MPs for their contributions and may God bless them all.

The MP’s contributed Sh5 million for the young man.
