Trust hands over computer lab to school

Bagamoyo. The Hassan Maajar Trust (HMT) has handed over a computer lab, complete with three 13 computers at the Majengo Primary School here as part of its ongoing effort to intervene in the betterment of the learning environment in schools.

The Trust spent a total of Sh32 million in building the lab while the 13 computers – which have a total value of $10,000 - have been donated by Nos Vies en Paratage Foundation (NVEP), which is sponsored by President and CEO of Barrick Gold Corporation, Mr Mark Bristow.

HMT Chairperson Mwanaidi Sinare Maajar handed over the computer lab to the head teacher for Majengo Primary School, Ms Magdalena Tiothem Amsi, during a function that was held here at the weekend and graced by Bagamoyo District Commissioner Halima Okash.

Ms Maajar said during the event that the Trust was now seeking partners to join forces with so they could renovate five buildings at the school.

In her remarks, Ms Okash, lauded HMT for helping to improve the learning environment in schools through donation of desks, books, construction of toilets and now computer labs.

A representative from Barrick, Ms Georgia Mutagahywa, said NVEP and Barrick were delighted to have partnered with HMT considering the importance of IT in work and in individual development.
