Dar es Salaam.Young Africans (Yanga) have suspended their acting secretary-general and head of legal affairs, Simon Patrick.

According to a statement signed by Yanga’s chairman, Mshindo Msolla, the decision has been reached following an emergency meeting held on November 17 in Dar es Salaam between Patrick and the club’s executive committee.

The statement said the meeting was called to deliberate on issues and allegations raised against Patrick.

“In the interest of fair practice in this regard, the executive committee will appoint an independent committee to investigate all the allegations. The executive committee is looking forward to receiving the final report from the committee and finalise this matter expediently,” said Yanga that was established in 1935.

One of the allegations that the committee will investigate is sabotage on the Bernard Morrison issue in which Patrick is alleged to have withdrawn a case which was filed at the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) against the Ghanaian player.

Patrick is also accused of meeting with one of the rival team leaders at the Yacht Club.

However, in his defence Patrick admitted meeting such a leader at the Yacht Club, saying that it was not a secret meeting. They met on October 20, this year.

The suspended acting secretary general also said in his statement that he is not worried about ‘his post’ to be taken by Senzo (Mazingisa), who is the club’s consultant.

He said of Senzo that he is not a lawyer by profession so he is not worried about being replaced by him.
