Dar es Salaam. Mbeya City FC look hesitant to accept a two-year suspension of their skipper Juma Nyoso.

The Mbeya-based outfit has now formed a three-man committee to review the ban, which also requires Nyoso to pay a Sh2million fine. Mbeya City chairman Mussa Mapunda told The Citizen yesterday that the review committee comprises club secretary general Emmanuel Kimbe, club information officer Dismas Ten, and one member from the club’s technical bench.

Mapunda said the committee will consider various issues including the actual incident, TFF ruling, procedures which were followed to handle the issue and the question of natural justice that requires the accused to give his defence.

“We cannot say that we are completely against the TFF’s ruling. Misconduct of any sort is intolerable in soccer and we don’t condone such behaviour. However, we have to get down to every detail of the matter,” Mapunda said.

He explained that as a club they need to be satisfied beyond doubt that justice was done in the handling of the case.

“We need to be satisfied with the whole process that led to the decision. Nyoso is with the team in Mwanza, so we are certain that he did not get a chance to defend himself before the committee. There are also several issues of concern as Nyoso is still our player,” he said.

Meanwhile, the TFF league supervision and management committee also has fined Young Africans and Simba SC Sh1 million apiece for indiscipline.

Yanga as they are popularly known have been fined after picking five cards during their derby match against Simba on Saturday. For its part, Simba have been fined after their fans threw bottles of water to the referee as well as assaulting Yanga head coach Hans van der Pluijm.

Other teams which have also been fined by the TFF are Coastal Union (Sh500, 000), Ndanda FC (Sh200, 000) and Kagera Sugar Sh200, 000.

Stand United head coach Patrick Liewig has also been handed a two-match ban by the TFF committee after violating league rules and regulations during their match against African Sports. The Frenchman has to part with a Sh1m fine.
