Dar es Salaam. After missing out on the CAF Confederation Cup title on home soil, one of Tanzania’s football giants, Simba SC, returns to local action today as they face Singida Black Stars FC at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.

Simba played to a 1-1 draw against RS Berkane, who claimed the CAF Confederation Cup title with a 3-1 aggregate victory at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar last Sunday.

It was a painful result for Simba’s players and their passionate fans, who turned out in large numbers at the state-of-the-art stadium in Zanzibar to witness the competition’s grand finale.

Still reeling from the disappointment, Simba’s players are eager to bounce back and lift the spirits of their supporters by securing a victory against Singida Black Stars in their return to the NBC Mainland Premier League.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 4pm. Beyond boosting morale, today’s clash is vital for Simba’s title hope as they aim to close the gap on their traditional rivals, Young Africans (Yanga), who currently top the league with 73 points from 27 matches. Simba sit in second place with 69 points from 26 matches.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Simba assistant coach Seleman Matola acknowledged the challenge posed by Singida Black Stars but expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to deliver.

“We’re expecting a tough match, but our target is clear—we want to win. The players are in great shape and ready to fight for three points,” said Matola.

He also noted the demanding schedule, with the team coming off a high-intensity match against RS Berkane. “It’s been a tight schedule, especially after a final like that, but we’ve prepared well and are focused on our goal—to win and keep our title hopes alive,” he added.

On the other side, Singida Black Stars head coach David Ouma said his squad is fully prepared and motivated despite the stiff competition. “We’re facing a very strong team, but we’ve trained hard. Our recent performances have boosted confidence, and we’re entering this game determined to compete,” said Ouma. He emphasized the need for tactical discipline and mental focus.

“We plan to attack from the start while keeping our defense tight. Simba has quick players, so we must remain composed and cautious throughout,” he explained.

With both teams eyeing crucial points—Simba to stay in the title race and Singida to maintain momentum—the clash promises to be intense and competitive.
