Sports minister Nape lauds TBL for sports development

Dar es Salaam.The Minister for Information, Culture, Artistes and Sports, Nape Nnauye has lauded the Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) for their continued support in sports development in the country.
Mr Nnauye made the remarks when he met a high level delegation from TBL led by the Managing Director Roberto Jarrin, who was accompanied by the Group Marketing Director Kushilla Thomas, Group Corporate Affairs Director Georgia Mutagahywa and the External Affairs and Communications Manager Emma Oriyo.
Also in the entourage were the Executive Solutions Managing Director Aggrey Marealle who are Kilimanjaro Premium Lager and Castle Lager’s PR consultants.
The minister said his ministry recognizes the significant sponsorship role played by TBL which made it one of his ministry’s main stakeholders.
The minister hailed TBL for sponsoring the Kilimanjaro Marathon and Mainland giant clubs Simba and Yanga through the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager brand.
He also hailed the firm for sponsoring the national football team (Taifa Stars) and other entertainment events like Kili Music awards.
“Many sponsors focus on Football but with TBL it is quite different.”
“You have invested significantly in athletics through the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon, which exposes and develops young talents,” he said.
“Am glad you have come to brief me about the progress of the forthcoming Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon 2016, which will happen on February 28 and I will be there to flag it off,’’ he said.
According to Mr Nnauye, the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon is beneficial to the country as it has helped to boost tourism and business besides nurturing new athletes.
He challenged other corporates to follow suit instead of just focusing on football while there were many other sporting games out there, which need assistance.
He said he will lead by example by taking part in one of the races after officiating the marathon.
“I will run and encourage some of my staff to join me,” he said.
For his part the TBL Group managing director congratulated the minister over his appointment and wished him well in his duties.
He also thanked him for the support he has so far extended to Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon 2016 as this will be his first since he assumed his new responsibility.
“We are also pleased to note that you are also providing valuable guidance to our team as we prepare for the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Tanzania Music Awards 2016,” he added.
For her part, Kushilla Thomas confirmed TBL’s commitment to promote and develop sports and entertainment in the country.
“We call on all athletics and music enthusiasts to come to Moshi for the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon where there will be sports and entertainment,” she said.
