Dar es Salaam. Mainland Premier League champions Young Africans SC (Yanga) have officially unveiled Guinean midfielder Balla Moussa Conté as their newest signing ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The former CS Sfaxien player joins the Jangwani giants on a three-year contract, bringing both quality and depth to a midfield department looking to fill the void left by outgoing Ugandan stalwart Khalid Aucho.
Conté, who was previously on the radar of Yanga's arch-rivals Simba SC, became a hot commodity in the East African football market following his performances in the Tunisian top flight.

However, Yanga acted quickly and decisively, engaging in advanced negotiations with the player, his agent, and his club to finalize the deal ahead of their domestic and continental campaigns.
The club made the announcement via their official social media platforms. Conté’s arrival is not just symbolic; it is strategic.
His style of play, marked by strong ball-winning ability, tactical awareness, and versatility in the holding role, makes him a near-perfect replacement for Khalid Aucho, who opted not to renew his contract with Yanga. Aucho is expected to complete a move to a club in Israel.
Yanga believe Conté will bring much-needed strength and stability to the heart of the midfield as they gear up for a challenging campaign both in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League and the CAF inter-club competitions.
In addition to Conté, Yanga have secured another midfield gem in Ivorian creative midfielder Mohamed Doumbia.
The 25-year-old, who last featured for Slovan Liberec in the Czech First League, is already in Tanzania and is expected to link up with the team during their pre-season training camp later this month.
Doumbia is renowned for his technical flair, vision, and dribbling ability. His creativity and playmaking instincts will offer attacking dynamism and versatility in Yanga’s midfield, a department that the club’s leadership has prioritized for reinforcements.
Club president Engineer Hersi Said, in a recent address, emphasized the importance of building a squad capable of excelling not just locally but on the continental stage.
“Our main objective is not only to continue dominating the domestic league but also to compete at the highest level in Africa. To achieve that, we must focus on three key aspects: signing experienced players, strengthening our technical bench to match the quality of the squad, and retaining our core players,” Hersi stated.
Yanga’s latest signings, including Conté and Doumbia, reflect a clear and ambitious strategy. With a strong technical bench and growing squad depth, the club is aiming to build on last season’s multiple trophy haul and make a deep run in the CAF Champions League.
As fans eagerly await the return of football action, the signings of Conté and Doumbia serve as a strong signal that Yanga are not just resting on past glories—they are preparing to write a new chapter in the club’s illustrious history.
