Kenyans in Tanzania vote peacefully today

Dar es Salaam and Arusha. Kenyans who live in Tanzania have gathered at the polling stations in Dar es Salaam and Arusha from various parts of the country to take part in the Kenyan General Elections. In Dar es Salaam, a total of 1057 voters have been registered from Dodoma, Iringa, Mbeya Morogoro and Zanzibar, according to Kenyan ambassador in Tanzania Mr Boniface Muhia. In both polling stations, voting begun early in morning while some voters from outside the cities had spent the night there. 

In Arusha, 374 voters were registered. Mr Jeff Kyeva who voted this morning, told The Citizen that he was pleased with the proceedings of the day, and he hoped that the people of Kenya will accept the results once announced. He also said that he was hopeful that the coming President will be dedicated in fighting corruption and creating employment opportunities for the youth.

According to Ambassador Muhia, the voting exercise is expected to be closed on 5 o’clock in the evening. However, there might be an extension of time if there will be voters who are not done. The Ambassador thanked the Tanzanian government for the support offered during this time.
