Dr Bashiru insists that the expulsion of Tanzania's  former Top Diplomat followed all the due process and to them it was a difficult decision to make.

Dar es Salaam. CCM's Secretary General Dr Bashiru Ally today touted former Foreign Affairs Minister Bernard Membe who was on Friday February 28 expelled from the ruling party to vie for the Presidency on another party's ticket if at all the problem that led to his expulsion was the Presidency.

Dr Bashiru had paid a courtesy call at Mwananchi Communication Ltd, the publishers of The Citizen, Mwananchi and Mwanaspoti where he expounded on several issues regarding ruling party's position in the run towards the 2020 General Elections.

He said Bernard Membe's expulsion was reached after all due process was followed.

"The constitution does not say that after you are expelled from CCM then you cannot contest for the presidency on another party's ticket,"Bashiru told MCL journalists.

Bashiru also touched on the issue of political rallies and the right for political parties to conduct rallies.

He also reiterated on the issue of free,secure and fair polls in the upcoming elections come October 2020.

Speaking on the Sh50 million empowerment funds which was one of the highlights of CCM's 2015 campaign manifesto, Bashiru said the plan was shelved because there were fears of mismanagement.

"We have instead guided our efforts towards free education and Rural electrification which has greatly impacted on the livelihood of millions of people," he said.
