Dar es Salaam. The Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) has invented a machine that can manufacture plastic products, The Citizen has learnt.
The machines are available on display at the ongoing Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) exhibitions.
DIT lecturer Stanley Mwalembe told The Citizen that the new technology was designed to produce direct products or parts.
“The machines can be used by anyone according to his or her needs. It can produce any type of plastic product or parts based on the design you like,” he said.
According to him, the machine manufactures an object designed by a computer.
“We named it a ‘movable manufacturing plant’ because you can move with it to any place of operation,” he said.
He said the machine is run by electricity and that they target all small, medium and large entrepreneurs.
The machines are sold at a minimum price of Sh1.5 million each with a guarantee of six months.
The innovation was completed in 2015 and one year later the DIT started producing and selling them.
“People with no computer skills cannot operate the machines. Also areas with no electricity may not be able to use this technology,” he added.
