Aisha Mohamed Mbegu aka Aisha Madinda was laid to rest yesterday at Kibada, Dar es Salaam
Dar es Salaam. She was the toast of town in 2000s as she swept fans off their feet during her spell as a queen dancer with the African Stars aka Twanga Pepeta.
However, her adoring fans were dealt a blow when they learnt that Aisha Mohammed Mbegu aka Aisha Madinda had passed away at Mwananyamala Hospital, Dar es Salaam.
According to sources at the hospital her body was discovered at the hospital by someone who knew her.
It is still not clear whether the dancer who also had a stint with Extra Bongo had been admitted to the facility or not. Details of how she got there are still scanty.
In a recent past, Aisha was among Tanzanian artistes who were rumoured to be struggling with drug abuse and that she was undergoing rehabilitation at Muhimbili Hospital.
In 2010, the queen dancer came under a storm after what were reported to be her nude pictures were splashed in local tabloids in Dar es Salaam. (The Beat)
