Dar es Salaam. In order to increase the availability of clean drinking water in the country, the Tamgo Tanzania Limited has developed a special machine that converts salt water into sweet water.

Speaking during the launch, Tamgo’s head of water division, Damian Massenge said that the machine uses technology known as Reverse Osmosis (RO) and is now available in the country. He said the plant removes salt and other minerals from the water and turns it into sweat water for domestic use and irrigation.

“This is good news for people who are leaving in the Coastal regions like Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Lindi, Mtwara or any area that has salty water. We have also solutions on other technologies based on generators and solar system,” he said.

These machines are now assembled in the country, he said. Meanwhile, the firm operations manager Mr Henrik Nielsen said during their aim is to provide high quality and modern equipment based on three products. 

He said the firm has also invested heavily in modern technology that leads them to dominate the market.

“We are proud to be in the Tanzania market after acquiring Merrywater. We have the experience of over 30 years in the business and that is why we have decided to expand our market in Tanzania,” he said.

He added, “We know there is a lot of competition in the market, but our main focus is to provide the best and most modern services as we have done in other countries with the business," said Nielsen.

For his part, the firm’s Tanzania country manager Tarek Mostafa, said they were proud of the large investment in water treatment technology, generators, and solar energy in all the countries they operate.

He said customers should expect to be given a diverse range of best-in-class products and services that fall within two categories of Power Solutions and Water solutions.
