Dodoma. Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Tulia Ackson, has credited President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s diplomatic efforts for the recent appointments of Tanzanian leaders to senior roles in international institutions.

Dr Ackson made the remarks today, May 31, 2025, during a special ceremony at the Parliament Grounds in Dodoma, where Parliament presented a special honorary award to President Hassan in recognition of her service and leadership.

Dr Tulia stated that these positions are not solely a result of individual merit, but rather a reflection of the President’s continued engagement in strengthening Tanzania’s international relations.

“Your Excellency, the President, you have consistently advanced diplomacy through active participation in numerous international forums, which has yielded significant benefits for our country. One such outcome is Tanzania’s appointment to the African Union Peace and Security Council,” she said.

Highlighting the increasing presence of Tanzanians in regional and global institutions, Dr Ackson added: “You have paved the way for many Tanzanians to attain leadership roles at international level. Even I, standing before you today as Speaker, also serve as President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.”

“When we acknowledge the achievements of others, it is clear these successes are not purely personal—they are the result of your leadership. My position at the Inter-Parliamentary Union would not have been possible without your efforts,” she added.

She said several Tanzanians who have recently assumed key positions abroad, including Benjamini Kapela, Professor Mohamed Janabi, Dr Deo Mapinga, and Ambassador Professor Kennedy Gastorn.
